Milton Powell obituary

Milton Wyatt Powell, age 83 of Murfreesboro, formerly of Fosterville died Saturday April 7, 2018 at his home. He was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late, James Wallis and Ethel Wyatt Powell; he was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Jackson. Mr. Powell was a member of Christiana Church of Christ, and retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Mr. Powell married his High School sweetheart on May 9, 1953; over 64 years of marriage to, Shirley Taylor Powell. He is also survived by his, daughters, Rhonda Powell Smith of Murfreesboro, Donna Powell Miller and husband Eric of Christiana; grandchildren, Kaycie Smith Hunsicker and husband Jonathan, Colin Wyatt Miller, Maegan LaRayne Miller, and great-grandchildren; Bentley Taylor Royston, and Olivia Marie Hunsicker; sister Madeline Bomar of Bell Buckle.

Memorials may be made to Christiana Church of Christ Building Fund in memory of Mr. Powell. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Alive Hospice, Dr. Victor Gian and Shirley Elder for compassionate care given to our family.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rick Williams and Glenn Chrisman will officiate. Burial will follow in Fosterville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Miller, Colin Miller, Jonathan Hunsicker, Bob Gentry, Tommy Gentry, Matt Gentry, and Tommy Ray Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Powell, Jerry Bowen, Bruce Gleam and the Men of Christiana Church of Christ. Visitation will be 3:00PM to 7:00PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel www.woodfinchapel.com.
