MTE Inspires Future Lineworkers and Engineers Through Local School Career Days
Murfreesboro Electric Department (MTE) is helping spark interest in future careers by connecting with local students across Middle Tennessee.
Before the school year wrapped up, MTE teammates visited schools throughout their service area to participate in career days, giving students a firsthand look at what it’s like to work for an electric cooperative.

From linemen to engineers, MTE representatives shared their experiences, answered questions, and explained how they help keep the lights on for thousands of families and businesses.
The visits took place at Browns Chapel Elementary, Cannon County Elementary, Christiana Elementary, Coles Ferry Elementary, Green Hill High School, John Pittard Elementary, Kittrell Elementary, Poplar Hill Elementary, and Rocky Fork Elementary.
MTE says one of the most rewarding parts of the job is spending time in the communities they serve and building connections with the next generation.
And who knows? Some of the students they met may one day become the future lineworkers, engineers, and leaders helping power Middle Tennessee.
