MTSU admissions brings virtual True Blue Preview prospective students

Middle Tennessee State University admissions staff will soon provide a virtual True Blue Preview for prospective students and their families.

Prospective students may register here for the 10 to 11:30 a.m. CDT Saturday, Sept. 26, preview event, which will be a remote livestream featuring undergraduate admissions recruiters October Henson and Alexandria Johnson, a former MT Lady Raiders’ basketball standout. To watch the preview, visit www.mtsu.edu/live or go to MTSU’s Facebook page.

It’s the second time university officials have chosen to show off the campus virtually since the COVID-19 pandemic prompted MTSU to switch to remote learning and canceled all on-campus events during the spring semester.

MTSU normally invites prospective high school and transfer students and their families to visit campus, meet college deans, advisers and others, and obtain a true in-person feel of what the university has to offer.

“Though we are open for classes and for tours of the campus, large-scale events like our traditional True Blue Preview, where we typically have hundreds of guests taking a closer look at what we have to offer, are being held virtually this semester,” said Laurie Witherow, associate vice provost for admissions and enrollment services.

Witherow said student prospects and families are welcome to take in the Sept. 26 virtual visit.

“We invite your family to join us, to look from your living room,” she said. “Families will have the chance to participate in a meeting with the college dean to learn more about academic programs and then ask questions of students, financial aid and admissions in (virtual) break-out sessions.”

In-person guided campus tours have resumed — with capacity limits, mandatory face coverings and other precautions — at 9:45 and 11 a.m. and 12:15, 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some in-person Saturday tours are offered. To take a virtual tour or ask questions of admissions staff, visit https://www.mtsu.edu/schedule-a-visit/.

For the health and safety of all visitors, please review visitor guidelines when registering before coming to campus.
