MTSU to Resume Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic with Moderna Supply

MTSU officials announced the “Don’t Miss Your Shot” COVID-19 vaccine clinic sponsored by MTSU Health Services will reopen Thursday, April 15, and Friday, April 16, at the Student Union first-floor atrium location.

After opening Monday, the special clinic shut down Tuesday and Wednesday, in accordance with the recent recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to pause use of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine that the university had been administering.

Upcoming vaccine clinics offered by Health Services will now administer the two-shot Moderna vaccine.

The vaccine clinic will return to the Health, Wellness and Recreation Center location beginning Monday, April 19, with vaccinations administered from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. Extended hours will once again be offered until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20.

MTSU health officials say that any appointment previously made for April 15 or later remains unchanged, and those individuals should arrive at the date and time originally scheduled.

Individuals who had appointments set for Tuesday or Wednesday will need to make a new appointment through the online portal previously used. Appointment slots remain available and a photo ID is required at the time of appointments.

MTSU Health Services staff will be reminding students that the Moderna vaccine requires a second booster shot 28 to 42 days after the initial dose, unlike the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The second dose may be scheduled with Health Services or students will be encouraged to use https://vaccinefinder.org/ to locate other vaccine providers in communities around the country as the university approaches the end of the spring semester and some students return to their hometowns.

While vaccination is not a current requirement, MTSU is encouraging students to be vaccinated in an effort to allow for more in-person opportunities in the fall semester.
