Murfreesboro Celebrates 20th National Night Out Against Crime
The Murfreesboro Police Department is partnering with the Murfreesboro Housing Authority,
Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation, Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors, AARP, and
others to host National Night Out Against Crime Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
National Night Out is an opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors, law enforcement
officers, public officials, and other community service providers in an informal setting with the
goal of increasing communication about crime prevention.
The partnering agencies will be hosting Night Out activities from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m at
SportsCom, Patterson Park and the downtown public square. Spring Valley Apartment residents
are also celebrating the occasion. Free food, information and activities for children and families
will be provided at each location. There will be a “shred truck” at the downtown location for free
on-site shredding of up to 3 boxes of personal papers during this event.
“National Night Out Against Crime is a national crime prevention event designed to heighten
crime prevention awareness and build relationships between Murfreesboro residents and police
officers,” said Chief Karl Durr. “It is a great chance to spend time with your neighbors and the
police officers who patrol your neighborhood.”
This is the 20th year the City has participated in the program.
