Nashville Zoo Data Center Proposal Gets Even Bigger

A proposed data center next to the Nashville Zoo at 648 Grassmere Park just got a whole lot bigger.

DC BLOX, the Atlanta-based company behind the project, has now proposed a second data center on the same 24-acre site. The first building was planned at 69,000 square feet with 10 megawatts of power. The newly proposed second building would be over 200,000 square feet and require 40 megawatts of power.

The project has already drawn major public pushback, including a Change.org petition with more than 350,000 signatures. The company says the site will not be an AI factory and has pledged waterless or closed-loop cooling, paid power infrastructure, and compliance with noise and environmental standards.

Still, many residents and zoo supporters have concerns.
