Officials Determine Huntwood Fire is Accidental

Officials investigating an early morning house fire on Huntwood Drive Thursday have classified the fire as accidental.

According to Rutherford County Fire & Rescue (RCFR) Investigator Joshua Sanders, the department was assisted by other local investigators from Lavergne and Nashville fire departments.

The consensus of the investigators was that the fire was not intentionally set and appeared to be accidental though the exact cause is undetermined.

Sanders confirmed that no occupants or pets were harmed in the fire. As reported earlier, no residents were home at the time the fire started.

Sanders, who heads up RCFR’s Fire/Arson Investigation Unit, was thankful for the assistance from other agencies.

“Working together in this capacity improves interagency cooperation, enhances our regional capabilities, and creates investigator training opportunities,” said Sanders.

Five people, including four adults and one child, were displaced in the fire and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
