One person dead another injured in Labor Day shooting

IDENTITY OF HOMICIDE VICTIM RELEASED

The victim in the Labor Day homicide has been identified as Keldrick Maurice Moore, 18, of Murfreesboro.

The shooting victim who survived is a 17-year old male. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Two juveniles, ages 16 and 17 were arrested. Juvenile petitions were obtained for murder and attempted murder.

Both are in custody at the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.

Murfreesboro Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead, and another one injured. A car fleeing the shooting scene was later involved in a four-vehicle crash.

Police responded to the 4800 block of Laura Jeanne Blvd. around 11:54 a.m., Monday Sept. 2, to reports of shots fired. A man was found deceased in the parking lot of the location.

While in route to the scene, a Rutherford County Medical Emergency Services ambulance was flagged down by occupants of a vehicle on Florence Road near Manson Pike. One of the passengers was suffering from a gunshot wound. Personnel with RCEMS began treating the man, who was later taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The driver and other passengers were apprehended.

MPD issued a BOLO for the suspect’s vehicle which was intercepted by a Trooper with Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office deputy. The vehicle wrecked causing three other vehicles to collide at the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Thompson Lane.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle, a silver Toyota Camry LE, and a passenger were apprehended.

The homicide and shooting are being investigated by members of the Criminal Investigations Division.

THP is investigating the crash.
