Murfreesboro Police respond to two separate shootings minutes apart

UPDATE: Names of victims released in unrelated shootings

The victim in the shooting outside Sam’s Sports Bar has been identified as Daniel Lee McCracken, 34, of Battle Creek Michigan.

The shooting victim in the Hancock Street shooting has been identified as Darnell Lamar Mayer, 48, of Murfreesboro.

The investigation, into both shootings, is still on-going. No other information will be released at this time.


ORIGINAL RELEASE: On Monday May 6, at approximately 12:43 a.m., Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to Sam’s Sports Grill, 1720 Old Fort Parkway, to a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male had been shot inside a vehicle. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

Investigators interviewed witnesses trying to determine motive.

The investigation is on-going.

HANCOCK STREET SHOOTING

Approximately 25-minutes later (1:08 a.m.), officers responded to a report of an unrelated shooting at the corner of Hancock Street and Minor Street.

A male victim was shot. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Currently, there is no motive nor suspect.

This investigation is also on-going.
