Project Restyle Fashion Show and Competition

Amelia’s Closet will hold its second annual fashion show fundraiser, Project Restyle, to be held Thursday, October 26, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Liberty’s Station, 850 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, TN.

“We are excited to present this second annual, unique event featuring both a restyling competition and a fashion show,” said Amelia’s Closet’s founding executive director Jody Powers. “Our inaugural event in 2022 was very well received, and we have expanded our footprint and creativity this year.”

The event will feature celebrity emcee Mila Grigg, best-selling author of Forged by Fire, and nationally recognized brand consultant. Grigg’s book has been recognized as one of Forbes’ “Five books to guide your personal and professional branding.”

The competition will feature five teams repurposing, restyling, and reconstructing two outfits in 45 minutes, using donated clothing from Amelia’s Closet as their raw materials. The teams’ creations will be judged by a panel, with prizes for the winners.

“While the teams are creating their outfits, several local boutiques, E.Allen Boutique being one of them, will present a fashion show of business attire and their favorite fall outfits,” Powers explained.

The event will also include a silent auction of jewelry, items from local merchants, concert and theatre tickets, and gently-used high-end handbags. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Tasty Table.

Since 2015, Amelia’s Closet has supported women during transitional moments in their lives by providing professional apparel, interview coaching, and the hope they need to feel confident, gain sustainable employment, and increase financial stability. Clients are referred from nearly 50 organizations, including Doors of Hope, Greenhouse Ministries, and The Journey Home.

“Having a job gives purpose,” Powers said. “Women coming from hardship lack the professional attire so necessary for making a great first impression in a job interview. Our mission is to help our clients acquire gainful employment in the community, ending their cycle of poverty.”

Project Restyle is being held at Liberty’s Station, a social enterprise of Amelia’s Closet. Liberty’s Station is a progressive workforce pipeline serving individuals with employment obstacles through meaningful job training and placement.

Tickets to Project Restyle are $75 for general admission and $100 for VIPs, – who will enjoy an early arrival time and swag bag – and must be purchased in advance.
