It Can’t Rain on Our Parade! – Hometown Heroes Walk for Children
Child Abuse Prevention Month event scheduled for Friday despite predicted rain
“Rain or shine, the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025,” announced Child Advocacy Center director Sharon De Boer.
The Child Advocacy Center is celebrating Child Abuse Prevention Month with the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children on Friday morning, April 25, at the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza, downtown on the square. Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m., speakers at 11:45 p.m., and the Walk will begin at 12 noon. Shuttles will run from Oaklands Park to the Civic Plaza from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. The event will conclude with a picnic lunch at Oaklands Park Pavilion, 427 Roberts St., Murfreesboro.
In the last 25 years, the Child Protective Investigative Team, consisting of the Child Advocacy Center, the Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office have worked together to help 50,822 individuals – 14% of the population of Rutherford County. This event will honor the child abuse professionals in our community whose careers are dedicated to child abuse victims and their families.
“I am still praying for a beautiful sunny day on Friday,” said De Boer. “But bring your umbrella just in case we get a sprinkle or two.”
