Registration Now Open for Summer Camp for Young Ladies at Oaklands Mansion
Calling all young ladies to join Oaklands for Summer Camp 2019. Girls ages 11 and up can experience trades & skills from the past during Summer Camp for Young Ladies, presented by Oaklands Mansion from June 19-21, 2019.
On the beautiful grounds of Oaklands Mansion, students will be introduced to history through classes by experienced presenters in food preservation, cooking with herbs, table setting and manners. Students will also explore Oaklands textile collection and assist in the curation of a pop-up summer exhibit.
“We are honored to give young ladies the experience of hands-on activities that have been passed down from one generation to another,” said Mary Beth Nevills, Educational Director.
The camp will operate from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost for the camp is $125. Costumes from the 1800’s will be worn to class on one day. Students may wear their own or borrow from Oaklands costume collection. Limited space is available. Registration must be received by June 10, 2019. Oaklands Mansion is nestled in Oaklands Park, a native tree arboretum and natural wetlands, which includes Maney Spring as well as heritage and native gardens. Oaklands Visitors Center houses a gift shop and Maney Reception Hall for special events and temporary exhibitions.
