Rutherford County Chamber adds new position to tourism department

The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce has named Ginna Foster Cannon as director of cultural and heritage tourism, a new post within the Rutherford County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

In this role, Cannon will be tasked with helping drive additional tourism to Rutherford County’s cultural and heritage attractions and events by working with community leaders to identify, align and integrate tourism assets. Her first day will be Aug. 15.

“Rutherford County is rich in its cultural and heritage tourism offerings,” said Rutherford County Convention & Visitors Bureau Senior Vice President Barbara Wolke. “We are looking forward to building momentum in this area and thrilled that someone with Ginna’s knowledge and experience will be filling this role.”

Cannon previously served as a historic preservation fellow for the Middle Tennessee State University Center for Historic Preservation, while earning her doctor of philosophy in public history. She did her professional residency with the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development.

Prior to MTSU, she worked in the publishing industry, as project manager in business development for McGraw-Hill, and as president and founder of Swift Book Promotion, LLC. In addition to her Ph.D. from MTSU, she earned a bachelor of arts from Harvard College, master of business administration from Columbia Business School and master of liberal arts and sciences from Vanderbilt University.
