Rutherford County Convention & Visitors Bureau Launches “Rutherford 250 Events” Initiative to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary

The Rutherford County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Rutherford) is proud to announce the launch of the Rutherford 250 Events initiative, a countywide effort to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by highlighting the rich history, heritage, and community spirit found throughout Rutherford County.

As communities across the nation prepare to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, Rutherford County is joining the celebration by promoting events, programs, and experiences that honor the nation’s history and the local stories that have shaped the region.

To support this effort, Visit Rutherford has launched a dedicated website — Rutherford250Events.com — which will serve as a central hub where residents and visitors can explore events taking place across the county that will honor and commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary. The site will be updated regularly as new events and activities are announced.

The initiative brings together cultural organizations, museums, historic sites, community groups, and local businesses to collectively showcase the history and heritage that make Rutherford County a special place to live and visit.

“Rutherford County has a remarkable story to tell,” said Barbara Wolke, Senior Vice President of the Rutherford County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Rutherford). “The Rutherford 250 initiative gives us a unique opportunity to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary while highlighting the people, places, and stories that have shaped our community. By bringing together partners across the county, we hope to inspire residents and visitors alike to explore our local history and take part in this once-in-a generation celebration.”

Visit Rutherford will promote Rutherford 250 events throughout 2026 through social media, tourism marketing, community partnerships, and Chamber communications. Organizations across the county are encouraged to submit their events and participate in the initiative. Event submissions can be sent to Ivy Albright, Director of Cultural & Heritage Tourism, ialbright@rutherfordchamber.org.
