Saint Thomas Health to Join Humana Commercial Network
Saint Thomas Health, the leading faith-based health care system in Tennessee, and Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), one of the nation’s leading health and well-being companies, have reached agreement on a new contract that provides in-network access at a number of Saint Thomas Health hospitals and Saint Thomas Medical Partners physicians and clinicians in and around Nashville for commercial members of Humana’s Choice POS health plans.
The Humana-Saint Thomas network agreement took effect Oct. 1, 2017. The contract provides in-network benefit access for Humana’s Choice POS members at four area Saint Thomas Health hospitals – Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville; Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville; Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery in Nashville; and Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro and its surrounding regional hospitals, as well as to Saint Thomas Health-owned, Nashville-area surgery centers and Saint Thomas Medical Partners physician practices.
“This marks a substantial expansion of our network in Metro Nashville, one of the nation’s strongest markets for small business growth,” said Humana Group and Specialty Segment President Beth Bierbower. “We are proud to expand our longstanding relationship with Saint Thomas Health and to work together to broaden member choice.”
“We are pleased to provide quality care and integrate with networks that support our vision to proactively manage the health of individuals and families,” said Fahad Tahir, President and CEO, Saint Thomas Medical Partners. “Our agreement with Humana, coupled with our newly opened Care Centers across Middle Tennessee and our participation in the Humana Choice POS and Choice EPO and Oscar for Business networks, expands access to personalized, compassionate care.”
With this network expansion, Humana’s Choice POS and Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) plans in Nashville will now offer in-network access for Humana commercial members to Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) hospitals and facilities, along with the addition of Saint Thomas facilities and Saint Thomas Medical Partners physicians and clinicians.
The network supporting Humana’s Choice POS plans in Nashville will also support the new Oscar for Business partnership between Oscar Health and Humana. The partnership was announced in July of this year, and will offer an EPO to area small employers with up to 50 employees. Oscar for Business in Nashville will launch in January 2018.
