Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital offers 24/7 NICU video streaming system
Saint Thomas Health is excited to announce the addition of NICView cameras to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital this week. NICView cameras are a 24/7 webcam streaming service added to the NICU, allowing patients and their families to view their infant through a secure, online portal.
“We are incredibly excited to add video streaming to our NICU, as the cameras will help provide peace of mind to parents and families when they are away from their newborn,” said Gordon Ferguson, President and CEO of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. “The NICView system will allow families to monitor daily progress and receive notes from our nurses pertaining to the care their babies are receiving.”
Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital offers a 16-bed Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), providing technology, expertise and timely care, with a neonatologist, an obstetrician and anesthesiologist in-house 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week.
The NICView cameras will be made available for newborns in the NICU with parental and provider consent. Each family is given an individual log in, which allows them to view their infant online 24/7 through any web-enabled device from anywhere in the world. NICView camera installation was completed this week.
The addition of NICView cameras to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital was made possible by funding from the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation through the generous supporters.
