School Board approves rezoning plan affecting four high schools

Plan affects rising freshmen at Rockvale High, Riverdale High, Blackman High and Siegel High; other grades offered grandfather option

The Rutherford County Board of Education approved a rezoning plan on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, that affects Rockvale High School, Blackman High School, Riverdale High School and Siegel High School.

All rising freshmen who have been rezoned must attend their new zoned school beginning in August. Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors have a grandfather option to remain at their existing schools but transportation is not provided. In addition, there is not a sibling option. Those who wish to exercise the grandfather option must notify their existing schools.

Blackman High School, Riverdale High School and Siegel High School plan to reach out to its newly zoned students for registration and class selection.
