Scott Bolden named principal of Rocky Fork Elementary School
Scott Bolden has been named the principal of Rocky Fork Elementary School, Director of Schools Bill Spurlock announced today.
Rocky Fork Elementary will open in August 2019. Bolden currently serves as the principal of David Youree Elementary School, a position he has held the past four years.
“Mr. Bolden has been very effective at David Youree, and I look forward to him carrying on that success with the opening of our newest elementary school,” Director Spurlock said. “We both have high expectations for Rocky Fork Elementary.”
As part of the rezoning proposal currently being studied by the Rutherford County Board of Education, Rocky Fork Elementary will take over the current zone served by David Youree Elementary. As such, Bolden will be familiar with much of the student body. A new zone is being created for David Youree Elementary School to relieve overcrowding at other nearby elementary schools.
Rocky Fork Elementary School is being constructed on the same campus as Rocky Fork Middle School, which opened in August 2017, on Thunderstorm Lane in Smyrna. Dr. Jimmy Sullivan is the principal of Rocky Fork Middle School.
“I want to thank Mr. Spurlock for the opportunity to open this new school,” Bolden said. “As the newest addition to the Rocky Fork campus, I’m looking forward to working with the faculty, students, parents and people in the community to establish a school that will be built on a strong culture, traditions and a partnership with Dr. Sullivan and Rocky Fork Middle that will echo through the years.”
Bolden added: “Rocky Fork Elementary will be a school that not only focuses on high achievement but also the social skills that will empower our students to be successful in the future.”
Bolden has been an educator for more than 15 years.
He previously served as an assistant principal at David Youree before becoming principal, and he has taught at Smyrna Primary School, Eagleville School and Homer Pittard Campus School.
He’s also a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and attended Eagleville School for grades K-12.
A search for a new principal at David Youree Elementary School will begin immediately. Bolden will officially begin his new role in February, and he will work from the district’s Central Office until the school is ready to occupy.
Rocky Fork Elementary School is one of two new schools set to open in August 2019. Rockvale High School will be the other new school, making a total of 49 Rutherford County schools.
