Senior Citizens Happy to Receive Christmas Gifts

Delight expressions shone on senior citizen’s faces when Sheriff’s Senior Citizens Awareness Network volunteers delivered Christmas presents.

“To give these seniors a gift for Christmas is like giving a child a toy,” said SCAN Coordinator E.T. Guice. “They get so excited when they open that bag.”

Church members, neighbors and individuals donated presents for about 80 SCAN members living in Rutherford County.

Guice said these presents may be the only Christmas gifts they receive.

SCAN volunteers and Sheriff’s Community Services Unit deputies played Santa and brought the bags of gifts to each senior.

“That’s what gets my heart is when we can gift them a gift and they are so excited over it,” Guice said.

Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh thanks everyone who donated to make the senior citizens experience a Merry Christmas.
