Sheriff’s Halloween Trunk or Treat
Pumpkins, Wonder Woman and other crime fighting kids in costumes will get treats at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office’s annual Trunk or Treat celebration Halloween night, said Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh.
The free Halloween event will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday Oct. 31 at the Sheriff’s Office at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.
“Parents and children can show off their costumes and enjoy a safe and fun family Halloween,” Sheriff Fitzhugh said.
Events include displays of Sheriff’s SWAT equipment, the Mounted Patrol horses, Murfreesboro Fire Department fire engine, volunteer fire department fire engines and an Emergency Medical Services ambulance, said Sgt. Jimmy Cassidy of the Sheriff’s Community Services Unit.
“It is important for the Sheriff’s Office to provide a safe place for our parents to take their children on Halloween,” Cassidy said.
Parents won’t have to cook because Slim Chickens and Prince’s Hot Chicken will sell food for supper.
Kids can load their bags with free candy distributed by the emergency responders, the Shriners, CMS Uniforms, Free at Last bonding and Image Orthodontics. Free at Last will provide a corn hole and witch hat ring toss.
Musician Melvin Cunningham will serve as DJ with Halloween-themed music.
