Siegel High School Band to host 5th Annual Stones River Championship
The Siegel High School Band will proudly host the 5th Annual Stones River Championship high school band competition to be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, TN. Over 4,000 people are expected to attend this one-day event. Siegel High School Band will host 16 high school bands from across Tennessee and Alabama. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. and final awards are scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.
General admission tickets will be available at the gate for $20 per person for ages 11 to adult, $10 for ages 6-10, and ages 5 and under are free. Tickets include both preliminary and final competitions. Parking is free and will be available at Siegel High School, Siegel Middle School and Northside Baptist Church.
Along with the many great band performances, there will be food vendors, contest t-shirts and other souvenirs from Northwest Designs Ink. A wide variety of food will be available at the concession stands, as well as several food vendors such as Maggie Moo’s, Kona Ice, Music City Kettle Corn, Sweet T’s BBQ, and the Siegel Choir bake sale.
The high school bands participating in the 5th annual Stones River Championship are (in order of preliminary performance) Smyrna, Coffee County, Ravenwood, Oakland, Brentwood, Station Camp, Hillsboro, Buckhorn, Bob Jones, Riverdale, East Hickman, Overton, Halls High, Hillwood, McGavock and Goodpasture.
Preliminary performances begin at 10:00 a.m. with a very special exhibition performance by the MTSU Band of Blue at 3:15, followed by preliminary awards at 3:30 p.m. Ten bands will advance to the finals with performances starting at 5:30 p.m. To close the final contest performances, the Siegel High School Marching Band will perform its 2019 competition show entitled Three Wishes. Finals awards will be presented at 8:30 p.m.
The Stones River championship seeks to provide bands will the best possible educational feedback. Class, Division, and Grand Champion awards will be presented at the end of the evening. The Stones River Championship traveling trophies were generously provided by former Siegel High School band boosters, Tim and Margaret Bowling.
Proceeds from the Stones River Championship will be used toward the ongoing operational costs of the Siegel High School Band. The award-winning Siegel High School Band, under the direction of Alex White and Mikaela Littleton, is beginning its seventeenth year and is proud to be an award-winning band each year. The Siegel Band will conclude its competitive season this year by competing in the MTSU Contest of Champions in November.
