Country’s #1 Singer-Songwriters Perform at Puckett’s Murfreesboro
On Thursday, Sept. 13, Puckett’s Murfreesboro will welcome No. 1 hit songwriters Kent Blazy and Danny Myrick to its stage as part of the brand’s recently launched “Hitmakers” music series presented by Puckett’s in partnership with Old Dominick Distillery.
Blazy has penned multiple chart-topping hits, including “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up)” and three other No. 1 songs recorded by his friend and writing partner, Garth Brooks.
Myrick, who wrote his first No. 1 gospel song at age 17, is the songwriter behind hits “Truck Yeah” by Tim McGraw, “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean (the most-played country song of 2009) and “I Love This Life” by Locash.
Claire Crowell, COO of A. Marshall Hospitality, said that the Hitmakers Series gives Puckett’s guests a unique opportunity to hear the stories and inspirations behind beloved songs in an intimate, personal setting.
“Puckett’s has a longstanding tradition of featuring Music City’s best songwriters behind the hits that we all know and love, and we are excited to roll out our Hitmakers Series to honor and continue that tradition,” Crowell said.
The Hitmakers Series is Spirited by Old Dominick Distillery, a revitalized Memphis, Tenn. brand with a like-minded commitment to showcasing great local talent. As a small-batch distillery, Old Dominick specializes in offering products like whiskey, vodka, gin and its signature Memphis Toddy. Puckett’s signature cocktails made with Old Dominick spirits, normally $10, will be featured for $8 at Hitmakers shows.
While the series takes place every Saturday night at the restaurant’s Franklin location, special Hitmakers shows will rotate among other Puckett’s locations in Columbia, Chattanooga and Murfreesboro on a quarterly basis.
The Sept. 13 show with Blazy and Myrick will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and there is a $12 cover charge. Guests are encouraged to make reservations by calling the restaurant at (629) 201-6916
In addition to hosting its first Hitmakers show, Puckett’s Murfreesboro is also expanding its music scene by kicking off the fall season on “MTSU Music Mondays” on Monday, Sept. 10. This tradition, which began last spring, features MTSU students, professors and alumni bringing their talents to the Puckett’s stage. The program was initiated by Rahsaan Robinson, a Puckett’s employee who is also studying music business at MTSU.
“As I talked with Puckett’s guests, I found that people really enjoyed live music and wanted to see more,” Robinson said. “I started thinking about the incredible talent that the MTSU network has to offer, specifically the plethora of singer-songwriters. Music Mondays have been such an exciting way to celebrate these gifted artists and support the local community.”
MTSU Music Monday shows take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and anyone with an MTSU I.D. receives a free cobbler with the purchase of an entree.
