Smyrna Fire Department Personnel Earn State Fire Inspector Certification

Smyrna Fire Department recently hosted the Fire Inspector I training course at Smyrna Fire Station 2. Nine personnel from Smyrna Fire Department, along with personnel from departments across Middle Tennessee, completed necessary training and passed testing to earn their State Fire Inspector Certification.

“Smyrna Fire Department is committed to completing Life Safety Inspections in partnership with our business community,” explained Smyrna Fire Chief Bill Culbertson. “Our shared goal is to keep our citizens safe. Training multiple personnel as State Certified Fire Inspectors insures that our department has the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct inspections and educate our community to mitigate risk.”

Life safety inspections will occur in every commercial, industrial, institutional and similar type buildings once every year. Inspections for 2020 will begin mid-February. Citizens are encouraged to call Captain Scott Byers, 615-459-9735 extension 7406, with for additional information.
