Smyrna Police Department arrest resident charged with second degree murder

Smyrna Police Department (SPD) detectives arrested Kristen Tweed of Smyrna, TN, on charges of second degree murder and felony drug sales.

On March 23, 2021, SPD officers were dispatched to Sleep Inn, located on Highwood Blvd in Smyrna, regarding a deceased female. The subsequent investigation revealed a drug overdose was the cause of death. SPD’s Criminal Investigation Division developed a suspect, gathered evidence, and the Rutherford County grand jury handed down an indictment on the suspect, Kristen Tweed. SPD placed Ms. Tweed under arrest on February 11, 2022.
