StateFarm Donates Nearly $60,000 to RCS for Driver’s Ed Simulators
All Rutherford County high schools will receive 'Virtual Reality Systems' thanks to generous grant
Rutherford County high school students will gain an enhanced driver’s education program using simulators thanks to a generous donation by StateFarm in conjunction with the Business Education Partnership Foundation.
Using a $58,000 donation, Rutherford County Schools will provide drivers education “Virtual Reality Systems” at all high schools.
High school students are eager to obtain their driver’s licenses and enter the roadways, and as such, the driver’s education courses available through Rutherford County’s high schools are very popular and in high demand. Students come to us with a variety of driving backgrounds. Some have already obtained their permits, while others have never been behind the wheel.
The Virtual Reality Systems will allow teachers to simulate various real-world scenarios, providing opportunities for students to hone their reactions and skills before getting inside an actual car. Parents appreciate the classes because they promote safe driving habits for teenagers, and they help everyone on the roads by reducing traffic accidents and insurance rates.
“These systems will greatly enhance opportunities for students by providing more access and frequency for them to practice their skills,” Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan said. “We are grateful for StateFarm’s investment in our students and schools.”
