Taming the brew: Discovery Center’s ‘Shakesbeer’ event returns May 3

Ale’s well that ends well at the Discovery Center’s 7th annual Shakesbeer event happening on Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m.

Tickets purchased in advance are $5 off and available at www.explorethedc.org/shakesbeer. Attendees must be 21 or older.

The event takes place at the Discovery Center’s serene Murfree Spring natural area and features theatrical performances by Murfreesboro Little Theatre, M-PROV and Inebriated Shakespeare, along with a variety of local and regional craft brews to sample.

“We’re excited to welcome a wide variety of craft brewers at this year’s festival, giving beer-lovers a chance to sip and saunter as their enjoy Shakespearean performances,” said Veronica Bosnak, the Center’s Chief Financial Officer and planner of the event.

Event participants include: Bow and Fiddle, Cedar Glade Brews, Cousins Maine Lobster, Emerald Abbey, Green Dragon, Humulus Project, Mayday Brewery, Mid State Brew Crew, Mid-State Brewsters, Mill Creek Brewing, MomEric Brewing, Mos Alesley Brewing, MTSU Fermentation Science, Murfreesboro Wine and Spirits, Overall Brewing and Blending, Red Silo Brewing, Smackdab Brewing, Spread-Eagle Handcrafted Ales, Steel Barrel Brewing, Stones River Total Beverages, Thompson & Sons, Vitruvian Artisan Ales, Wiseacre Brewing, and Yazoo.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door and include a commemorative tasting glass. Designated driver tickets are $15.

Proceeds for the event benefit the Discovery Center. If rain is forecast, the event will be held inside the Discovery Center.
