TDOT Explains What to Expect With North Thompson Lane Widening Project

TDOT is preparing to begin major work on the North Thompson Lane widening project in Murfreesboro.

The project covers more than four miles of North Thompson Lane from Northwest Broad Street to Memorial Boulevard. TDOT explains why the project is so complex, including utility relocations, bridge work, new and upgraded signalized intersections, access to schools and neighborhoods, and traffic management during construction.

Preliminary work is already getting underway with staking, signage and erosion control. Bridge work is also expected to be among the first major phases of construction.

TDOT also discusses lane closure restrictions during school hours, how crews will maintain access to nearby schools and neighborhoods, and why there may be times when construction is happening underground even when drivers do not see crews working along the roadway.

Watch for a closer look at what drivers and residents can expect as this major North Thompson Lane project moves forward in Murfreesboro.
