Thieves steal archery targets from Rockvale elementary school

Rockvale Elementary School students just don’t understand why someone would steal their archery targets.

School Resource Officer Greg King said someone stole a trailer containing the used targets about 3 a.m. Thursday when parked at the school on New Salem Highway.

“They are just wondering why someone would steal something from the school,” King said.

Sheriff’s Detective Josh Anderson said the driver of the truck allegedly stole the archery targets from the students.

“We need the community to help identify this vehicle and the thieves responsible,” Anderson said.

The truck was believed to be a Dodge Ram truck with a tool box in the back. The trailer is a white enclosed dual-axle trailer.

People who information about the driver or the location of the truck are asked to call Detective Anderson at 615-904-3040 and leave a message.

King said the school staff just bought the used targets for a 3-D archery tournament for the students.

The trailer was valued at $3,000 and the targets are valued between $6,000 and $7,000.
