Touch-a-Truck Returns Sept. 27 in Murfreesboro
Families will have the chance to get up close with trucks, a helicopter, a boat, and more than 20 other types of vehicles at the annual Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at World Outreach Church on New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.
The free, family-friendly event is hosted by the Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force and coordinated by Murfreesboro Police Lt. Zach Ferrell.
“There are multiple goals of this event,” Ferrell said. “The first is to educate the public about different types of vehicles. Secondly, this is a community outreach event to meet your local agencies that comprise the Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force and other local organizations. Lastly, this event is to encourage engagement with Rutherford County citizens, no matter the age.”
Vehicles and displays will include:
- A semi-truck from the Tennessee Truckers Association
- A boat from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency
- A Stat Flight helicopter
- Bearcat SWAT vehicles from Murfreesboro and La Vergne Police and the Sheriff’s Office
- MTSU’s drone trailer and the Sheriff’s Office drone team
- Tennessee Highway Patrol’s slingshot and driving simulator
- Fire engines, ambulances, and police vehicles from local agencies
- Tow trucks, utility trucks, backhoes, and bucket trucks
- Specialized displays like the SRO table, seatbelt convincer, and Sheriff’s Office Community Services Unit
Food vendors will also be on site, making it a fun outing for the whole family.
