Touchstone Energy Community Service Project Being Held in Murfreesboro March 5
Touchstone Energy Cooperatives is sponsoring its 14th annual Community Service Project in conjunction with the NRECA PowerXchange Conference, being held in Nashville from March 6-9. As part of this annual initiative, participating Touchstone cooperative attendees visit the cooperative closest to the host city and complete community service projects.
This year, Middle Tennessee Electric was chosen to host these service projects in Murfreesboro, which is home to the organization’s headquarters.
Approximately 100 Electric Cooperative volunteers from across the nation will travel from Nashville to Patterson Park in Murfreesboro on Saturday, March 5 to work on various projects to benefit local schools and provide essentials to those in need. Projects include the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting at Bradley Academy, cleaning up the playground at a daycare facility, updating and painting Holloway High School, providing a mobile food pantry for local residents and more.
Electric cooperatives are deeply rooted in the communities they serve. This is an opportunity for cooperative employees across the nation to give back to a deserving community and demonstrate two of the seven core principals of cooperatives – ‘Cooperation Among Cooperatives’ and ‘Concern for Community.’
Work on the projects will begin on Saturday, March 5 at 9 a.m.
