A Tradition of Giving 7th Annual Turkey Tee Off

 The skies were sunny, the greens were fast, and the golfers enjoyed the day as it warmed up to 60 degrees at the 7th annual Turkey Tee Off golf tournament on Saturday, November 11 at Cedar Crest Golf Course.

 

“The tradition of giving continued at this year’s tournament, and we were blessed this year to raise over $17,000 at the Turkey Tee Off,” stated Child Advocacy Center Development Coordinator Kristina Troglen, “We are grateful to our sponsors:  Beach & Farrer Properties, Charles R. Farrer Partnership, General Mills, Redstone Federal Credit Union, the District Attorney’s Office, and Waldron, Fann, and Parsley Attorneys.”

 

Golfers were treated to a waffles, bacon, sausage, coffee, and orange juice provided by Waffle House before teeing off at 9 a.m.  After the round, 27 teams feasted on Slick Pig BBQ while tournament chairperson Mike Becker announced the prize winners.

 

Mark Brook’s team of Brooks, John Morrissey, Austin Bowling, and Jordan Holmes took home first place of $200 with a score of 57.

 

The second place team with a prize of $160 was Smith & Salmon Construction.  The golfers on the second place team were Scott Salmons, Alan Hardison, David Honeycutt, and Donald Parker with a score of 58.

 

The third place team with a prize of $100 was the “VA Golfers”.  The golfers on the third place team were Don Fletcher, Tommy Bennet, Rick Hunt, and David Adams with a score of 58.

 

The Brook’s team and the Smith and Salmon Construction Teams generously donated their winnings to the Child Advocacy Center to support services for child abuse victims.

 

The following were the other prize winners:

  • Kyle Thomas won the “Longest Drive” on Hole 5.
  • John Morrisey won the “Closest to the Pin” on Hole 3.
  • Dwight Anderson won the “Closet to the Pin” on Hole 14.
  • David Honey cut won the putting contest.

 

Child Advocacy Center Board President Terry Fann stated, “The annual Turkey Tee Off is a tradition for many local golfers.   Their continued support is a fine example of how our community comes together to help abused children in Rutherford and Cannon Counties.”
