TriStar Southern Hills Receives Leapfrog Top Hospital Award
The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog that collects and transparently reports hospital performance data, has awarded TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center as one of the Top General Hospitals in the United States and as the only recipient in Tennessee for 2018. This prestigious award is given to only those hospitals that meet stringent criteria and have proven to be vigilant and committed to ensuring patients receive the best in safe, high-quality care. To be eligible to receive this designation, hospitals have to meet six criteria which includes receiving an ‘A’ hospital safety grade and having a value-based purchasing score ranked within the top 10% of their category.
Less than 6% of eligible hospitals nationally have received the honor of being named a Top General Hospital by the Leapfrog Group. Of the 118 Top Hospitals recognized, 13 were Top Children’s Hospitals, 35 Top General Hospitals, 53 Top Teaching Hospitals and 17 Top Rural Hospitals. The Leapfrog Hospital Survey is the nation’s only rating system focused entirely on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
