Two arrested following vehicle, foot pursuit

Two people who led La Vergne officers on a vehicle pursuit before taking off on foot have been taken into custody.

Around noon on Wednesday, October 9 officers recognized the driver, passenger and vehicle on Murfreesboro Road from a BOLO received by LPD earlier in the day by another agency.

Officers attempted to pull the driver over but were led on a short pursuit by the male driver when he refused to pull over. He drove the vehicle through a fence at the dead-end of Centennial Drive and into the woods. The suspect quickly abandoned the vehicle in a field near Centennial Drive before fleeing on foot with his female passenger into the wooded area. Police set up a perimeter in the area and called in two La Vergne K9 officers to begin tracking the suspects.

The K9s were able to pick up on the suspects’ scents and eventually led them to Mason Road on the opposite side of the fields near the Park 24 industrial complex. Thanks to the K9s both the male and female were taken into custody.

No additional information will be released at this time due to the case involving multiple jurisdictions, and the investigations are continuing.
