Two arrested for operating illegal massage parlor in Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro Police Department Special Investigation Section (SIS) detectives have arrested and charged two people for impersonating licensed professionals while running an illegal massage parlor.

Guang Tian and Yiping Zhao were detained on Friday, Aug. 13, after SIS detectives executed search warrants at the business and the owner's residence. Both face felony charges of impersonating a licensed professional.

SIS detectives launched an investigation into Better Life Massage, located on Lascassas Pike, following numerous complaints. The investigation determined that workers at the business lacked the necessary licenses from the State of Tennessee to perform massages.

Guang is being held on a $20,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, while Zhao's bond is set at $15,000. Their hearings are scheduled for Sept. 16 in General Sessions Court.
