City recognizes two Street Equipment Operators with STARS Award

Street Division employees Lucas Stanley and Trenton Ferrell have been named STARS award recipients for October 2018.

Mayor Shane McFarland recognized Stanley and Ferrell during the Oct. 18, 2018, meeting of the Murfreesboro City Council with the STARS award for Outstanding Performance: “Succeeding Through Attitudes Reflecting Service Excellence.”

Stanley and Ferrell are another example of representing the City in a positive light, exhibiting the core values and creating a better quality of life for citizens.

Street Division Director Raymond Hillis joined Mayor McFarland in presenting the STARS awards to Stanley and Ferrell.

“Trenton and Lucas are two excellent, hard-working employees and I couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishment. Well deserved,” said Street Division Operations Manager Raymond Hillis.

Stanley has served the City Street Division as a laborer since December 2014. Ferrell has served the Urban Environmental Department as Landscaper/Greenskeeper since November 2013 and the Street Division since August 2018.

In the nomination, the following narrative explanation was provided:

“Mr. Joe Reeves, long time resident of Murfreesboro, called the Street Department to compliment Lucas Stanley and Trenton Ferrell. Mr. Reeves was out trying to change a flat tire and was struggling with the tire jack. Lucas and Trenton saw Mr. Reeves and stopped to help him. Mr. Reeves said they were professional and polite. He offered to pay them ‘a little something’ and they told him they were just doing their job. Mr. Reeves said it’s nice to know there are still nice people out there and that we have two good guys. Lucas and Trenton demonstrated exemplary service and represented the city in a positive light, exhibiting the core values and “creating a better quality of life.”

The STARS Service Excellence program is intended to recognize outstanding employees who embody the city’s standards for service excellence and exemplify the city’s core service values. The purpose of the STARS award is to recognize and reward those employees who go above and beyond their normal job duties in providing outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
