VA Murfreesboro Veterans Recovery Center Participants to Exhibit Riding Skills at MTSU CERV Showcase
Mark your calendars for an upcoming Middle Tennessee State University-hosted horse event that supports health care for recovering veterans.
The 10th annual MTSU CERV Showcase will be held Saturday, April 6, at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum, 304 W. Thompson Lane, in Murfreesboro.
This year, the CERV Showcase will be run in conjunction with the two-day Tri Star Horse Show, managed by Peak Equine Productions LLC, scheduled April 6 and Sunday, April 7, at Miller Coliseum.
CERV — Center of Equine Recovery for Veterans — offers veterans from the VA Murfreesboro Veterans Recovery Center an opportunity to ride and benefit from interacting with horses while MTSU students gain valuable experience in helping facilitate the sessions.
“The CERV Showcase at the TriStar show will prove how much this program works for our veterans who have sacrificed for us,” said Andrea Rego, CERV program director, Horse Science instructor and stock horse team coach.
Veterans will have the opportunity to show in two classes on April 6, both in-hand and mounted trail, with extra recognition for the program and their accomplishments, Rego said.
The CERV program is a partnership between MTSU Horse Science and the VA Murfreesboro Veterans Recovery Center.
Established in 2013, CERV has assisted more than 130 veterans with this form of therapy.
