Mark Lewis has won respect and admiration for his customer service working at the City’s Solid Waste Convenience Center. Thursday, March 16, Vice Mayor Shacklett and Councilwoman Averwater recognized the Facility Attendant with the STARS Award.

Lewis has served City residents with exemplary customer service for eight years, assisting citizens when disposing garbage and recyclable items at the Murfreesboro Convenience Center located at 648 West Main Street. Lewis began his employment with the City in April 2015.

A City employee provided the following description:

“Mark has been the Facility Attendant at the City’s convenience center for years. In his time there, Mark has gained the respect and admiration of many of the City’s residents. The Solid Waste Department receives multiple complements on his attitude and customer service on a weekly basis. Mark is responsive to those who may need help when disposing of garbage and recycling at the convenience center. He had a recent encounter with Councilmember Jamie Averwater and she called to give him recognition. She stated that over the years of her using the facility, Mark has always gone out of his way to help her with her recycling. He will take it out of her car and help her load the cardboard into the compactor. Mark has a servant attitude and always goes above and beyond to ensure the customers needs are met.”

The Murfreesboro City Convenience Center is open for disposing garbage and recyclables Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. https://www.murfreesborotn.gov/1544/Solid-Waste

The STARS Service Excellence program recognizes outstanding employees who embody the city’s standards for service excellence and exemplify the city’s core service values. The purpose of the STARS award is to recognize and reward those employees who go beyond their normal job duties in providing outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
