Walter “Wally” Matuszewski obituary

Mr. Walter “Wally” Matuszewski, Jr., age 77, of Rockvale, TN passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in Dearborn, MI to the late Bernice and Walter M. Matuszewski, Sr. He moved to Murfreesboro, TN in 1985 and then to Rockvale in 1989. Wally worked for General Motors for 25 years and attended Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he loved being a part of the men’s group. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Wally was known for his strong-willed spirit which allowed him to get through anything. He was a great listener and never judged. He loved to entertain and was adopted by many as their own dad. He loved mowing the yard, working in his shop, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Wally is survived by the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Fenton Matuszewski; three children, Cindy Burns and her husband Billy of Eagleville, TN, Debbie Casteel of Murfreesboro, and Steve Matuszewski and his wife Amber of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, Rob Burns, Matt Burns, Drew Casteel, Danielle Casteel, Alec Matuszewski, and Clifton Matuszewski; and three sisters, Sally Krupnik and her husband John of AZ, Joni LaTour and Jerry of AZ, and Bev Husak and Greg of Murfreesboro.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Graveside services of Wally’s cremated remains will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00am at Farris Cemetery in Rockvale. Pastor Jonathan Watson will officiate.
