Webb Announces Bill McClain as New Executive Director of Athletics

The Webb School has announced the appointment of Bill McClain as its new Executive Director of Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.

Following an extensive search, school leaders selected McClain to lead Webb Athletics because of his combination of leadership experience, operational expertise and commitment to building strong teams. The hiring committee said it was looking for someone who could not only oversee athletic programs but also create an environment centered on accountability, clear communication and alignment with the school's mission.

McClain brings a diverse background to the role. He earned a Master of Science degree from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern University. His professional experience includes 15 years as an administrator at St. George's Independent School in Collierville, Tennessee, followed by six years leading operations for agricultural technology company Indigo Ag.

“We recognize that families evaluate athletic programs not only by competitive success, but also by communication, alignment with values and the overall student experience,” said Dr. Polly Parker, Head of School. “Bill has a demonstrated ability to establish operational clarity, develop and execute strategy, and measure outcomes. Equally important, he possesses strong communication skills, a commitment to collaboration, and the ability to build a cohesive, values-driven culture.”

As Executive Director of Athletics, McClain will oversee Webb's athletic department, focusing on supporting coaches, strengthening athletic programs and helping student-athletes succeed both on and off the field. School officials said they believe his leadership will further enhance the school's tradition of excellence while continuing to invest in the personal growth of its students.

McClain said he is honored to join The Webb School and is eager to build upon its longstanding legacy.

“Webb's commitment to developing young men and women of character has inspired generations, and I am grateful for the trust the Board and Dr. Parker have placed in me,” McClain said. “My primary goal is simple: to clear the path for our outstanding coaches so they can do what they do best—build meaningful relationships with athletes and help them grow as leaders on the field, in the classroom and throughout their lives.”

He added that the school's mission extends well beyond athletics.

“Together, we'll build on Webb's rich tradition of developing character and discipline because, at the end of the day, our charge is not just to prepare students for the next game; it's to prepare them for the next chapter of their lives.”
