Wine Around the Square Returns This October
On Saturday, Oct. 21, the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation will honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its 12th Annual Wine Around the Square event.
The wine- and spirit-tasting fundraiser will take place in Murfreesboro’s historic Downtown Square. Proceeds from this event will be used to support the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation and the Power of Pink Fund.
“The funds raised from Wine Around the Square are instrumental in helping us provide crucial, lifesaving services to the women of Rutherford and surrounding Counties,” said Virginia DeJean, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Director. “I am so appreciative that leaders and community members from across our great community are willing to come together for a night to help make a real difference in our mission and our work.”
The Power of Pink Fund has provided over 25,000 mammograms in Rutherford County and is dedicated to educating and assisting uninsured and underinsured women within our community. Over the course of the fund’s existence, the Power of Pink has raised more than $2 million for potentially lifesaving procedures, including screenings, diagnostics, ultrasounds and MRIs as well as supporting two mobile mammography units that travel to 26 Middle Tennessee Counties
This year’s event will be honoring breast cancer survivor and Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford nurse Gay Ensey. Ensey has served as a nurse at Ascension Saint Thomas’ Rutherford location for 47 years and continues in her current position as program coordinator for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. She is celebrating five years cancer-free this month.
The annual Wine Around the Square is the Power of Pink Fund’s largest source of funding. Tickets to the event include wine- and spirit-tasting provided by Stones River Total Beverages, a full dinner prepared by The Alley On Main and The Clay Pit, and musical entertainment from the Chris Weaver Band.
