You can “Be the Love” this February

February, in honor of Valentine’s Day, is a month to celebrate and show love. Your local Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center has rolled out their new “Be the Love” campaign just in time. Due to stigma, shame, and economic factors, intimate partner violence and sexual abuse are notorious for being extremely difficult to escape and heal.

The Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center (DVSAC) reports an average of 200 individuals and families seeking their healing and protective services each month. “During one of the most grim, uncertain, and scary times of their lives, these survivors exude a continual amount of resilience, courage, and strength throughout the process of getting free from their abusive situations,” said Kara Mischke, Community Relations Manager. “We wanted to do something special this year to show them that they matter. They are loved, and they are valuable to our community.”

In honor of Valentine’s Day, Be the Love for someone healing from intimate partner violence or sexual abuse. Running throughout the entire month of February, the Be the Love campaign allows for you to donate a Valentine’s day card, a single stem rose, or a bouquet of flowers to remind a survivor that they are
being thought of and are worthy of love.

Your donation this month will provide a meaningful message that they matter to this community and serve as encouragement as they find safety in shelter, work through a legal order of protection, or as they are healing from the trauma through counseling.

$14 provides a handmade “you are loved” card. $35 provides a single stem rose and a card. $100
provides a bouquet of flowers and a card.

This special Valentine’s Month campaign is being made possible by valuable partnerships with Murfreesboro Flower Shoppe and Alpha Chi Omega of MTSU.

Help us ensure that all survivors that the DVSAC serves this month receives this special gift. Be the Love today.
