Youth and Childrens’ Awards and Exhibition at MTSU
The Todd Art Gallery announces the Winner’s Circle, an invitational exhibit of artwork from students of Murfreesboro City and Rutherford County Schools. Scheduled May 8-18, 2017, a closing Awards Reception is planned Thursday, May 18, 4:30 p.m., MTSU, Todd Hall, Room 224A. This year’s competition also serves as an inaugural event for student work from area private schools, and home-schoolers. Additionally, the Center for the Arts added a new category to the competition this year through the inclusion of 3-D print work.
For this edition the Center and the Murfreesboro Art Committee gathered student work to be displayed first at their respective locations inside the Center Gallery and the Rotunda Gallery of City Hall. To accommodate all artwork in one location everything will then be moved to MTSU as a final showcase for the 2016-17 academic year. In this way, the broad range of student artistry and diversity is on display and awaits attendee discovery.
Mr. Nicholas Satinover, assistant professor of printmaking will select the MTSU Arts Best of Show Award and 10 Awards of Merit across five age groups of students. Dr. Dawn McCormack, Associate Dean, College of Liberal Arts will lead the occasion as Master of Ceremonies. Reception attendees will also be treated to a catered ice cream.
The Center, the Rotunda, and the Todd Art Gallery host these friendly art competitions each year to recognize the remarkable student talent in our community and to applaud all area art teachers for their dedication for keeping visual arts alive in our schools.
All Todd Art Gallery exhibits and receptions are free and open to the public. For more questions, directions, and parking 615-898-5532.
