18-year-old dies after shooting in Murfreesboro parking lot

An 18-year-old died after he was shot in a Murfreesboro parking lot of an apartment complex.

Murfreesboro police say they responded to the Gateway Apartments around 7:45 p.m. where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.

The victim, who was identified as 18-year-old Kendrick Love, was taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Love celebrated his 18th birthday just five days ago, according to police.

Witnesses told Murfreesboro police three men were seen running from the area shortly after shots were fired.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 615-893-7867.

Murfreesboro police said it is the second homicide in 2017.
