18th Annual Special Kids Golf Classic Raises Over $52,000

Over $52,000 was raised for local nonprofit Special Kids in the organization’s 18th Annual Golf Classic presented by Nissan North America on Thursday and Friday, May 4 and 5, at Indian Hills Golf Course in Murfreesboro.

The annual event hosted 54 teams with over 216 players participating to help children with special needs in middle Tennessee. The golf scramble held a two day tournament, allowing participants to play in afternoon hours both days. Golfers enjoyed lunch and snacks provided by The Alley on Main, Buffalo Wild Wings, Newk’s Eatery and Slick Pig BBQ.

Winners for the Thursday tournament were Volunteer State Bank with Chad Hill, Casey Rainey, Gabe Frazier and Dan Ebbutt. Team Holder took the top title in the Friday tournament with team members that included Chris Holder, Ben Lewis and Jason Baxter.

Nissan North America presented the tournament for the seventh consecutive year with CVS Health as the Ace Sponsor. Tri-Star Title & Escrow and Chick-fil-a Murfreesboro were the Albatross sponsors. Eagle sponsors included Aetna, Atco, Calsonic Kansei North America, Hooper Fence, Middle Tennessee Electric Customers Care, Newk’s Eatery, PPG, SEC, Inc. and Yates Services. The Birdie sponsors for 2017 were Blake Finney Shelter Insurance and Rucker-Donnell Foundation. Special Kids is a Christian therapy and nursing center for children with special needs. The Murfreesboro-based ministry started with one child in 1998 and has grown to serve over 3,100 children from 18 counties in middle Tennessee.
