2018 Old Timers’ Festival – Small Town, Big Future

The city of La Vergne’s biggest festival of the year is just days away. This year we have our biggest carnival to date, live music, an animal zone, kids zone, dozens of arts and craft vendors and local businesses set up at Veterans Memorial Park.

The carnival kicks things off on Wednesday, September 5th at 5:00 p.m. They close at 11:00 p.m. On Thursday and Friday the carnival is open from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. On Saturday, the carnival opens at Noon and will remain open until 11:00 p.m.

This year’s festival kicks off with a parade starting at City Hall, 5093 Murfreesboro Road, and ending at Veterans Memorial Park, 115 Floyd Mayfield Drive. The parade, which starts at 10:00 a.m., will have the westbound lanes of Murfreesboro Road shut down between Lillian Buchannan Drive and 73 rd Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or when the parade route is clear.

The parade Grand Marshal this year is the Bowers Family, who have been a staple in La Vergne for decades. Billy Bowers, who passed away last year, founded and owned B&B Family Fireworks more than 55 years ago.

Opening remarks are at 11:00 a.m. with must to follow with Mix Tape 80’s, followed by Zachary Ray at
2:00 p.m. and Missy Garnett at 4:00 p.m. Shows at the Animal Zone will be at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
This year we’ll also have a Kids Zone in conjunction with the Public Library’s set up on one of the
baseball fields near the Music Stage. We will have a balloon artist, face painter and lawn games, along
with local Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups.
