Joint investigation by FBI and Murfreesboro police leads to arrest of suspect in child rape case
The FBI Nashville Field Office, with assistance from the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD), has arrested Dylan Osborne, 26, of Murfreesboro, for the rape of a child after he allegedly crossed state lines with the victim.
FBI agents observed Osborne making a sexual advance on the child during a surveillance operation on Sunday, Oct. 25. Acting under exigent circumstances, they entered his apartment and took him into custody. The child was safely recovered. Osborne faces charges of rape of a child by MPD detectives, while federal charges and additional charges from Ohio are pending.
The investigation was initiated after the FBI Cleveland Field Office alerted Nashville authorities to Osborne allegedly soliciting an 11-year-old for sexual purposes on the internet. Osborne is accused of picking up the child in the Town of Willard, near Mansfield, Ohio, and bringing the child to Murfreesboro.
MPD's Real Time Crime Center, automatic license plate readers (ALPR), special victim’s unit, and patrol division assisted with the investigation.
Osborne is being held in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $100,000, and a court date is scheduled for Nov. 30.
