Working Mission Farm: Animals, Agriculture and Giving Back to the Community
Come along as we take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of Working Mission Farm in Lascassas, Tennessee! This incredible 730-acre working farm is doing much more than raising animals and growing food. It's helping feed families throughout Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee while teaching visitors about sustainable farming.
We join Billy from Working Mission for a tractor tour of the property, which has a history dating back to 1790. Along the way, we meet hundreds of chickens, pasture-raised pigs, sheep, livestock guardian dogs and plenty of bees. We even get to feed the pigs some pumpkins!
But there's an even bigger story behind this farm.
Working Mission Farm has donated approximately 40,000 pounds of food to local food banks, including Nourish Food Bank, Feed America First and Second Harvest. Their goal is to eventually increase that number to 100,000 pounds annually!
In this video, you'll learn about:
- How Working Mission Farm helps feed local families
- Their goal of donating 1,000 dozen eggs to local food banks
- Sustainable and regenerative farming practices
- Raising pasture-fed pigs, sheep and chickens
- Producing local honey and growing sunflowers
- The farm's history dating back to 1790
- Educational farm tours, summer camps and field trips
- Plans for a future farm store
- How you can volunteer, donate or get involved
We also learn about the farm's popular fall festival, sunflower picking, hayrides and the importance of teaching the next generation where their food comes from.
A huge thank you to Billy and everyone at Working Mission Farm for showing us around and for everything they do to support our community!
