Adventures in Agriculture Set for April 13th

Adventures in Agriculture will be April 13th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro. The Lane Agri-Park is located at 315 John Rice Boulevard, just past Sam’s Club and Tractor Supply. Our goal is to educate the community about local agriculture. Farmers will be there to share their knowledge of animals, crops, homegrown foods, handmade products, and more with parents and children. Admission is FREE and open to the public. We will be taking donations for the Rutherford County backpack program at registration. This event, hosted by members and partners of the Rutherford County Agriculture Community, provides many hands-on activities to teach families about agriculture’s impact on our everyday lives.

The first 50 teachers from Rutherford County, will receive a $25 gift certificate for the use of classroom resources and other teaching materials. Adventures in Agriculture has something for everyone. Children can pick up a passport to have stamped as they pass through the adventure and receive a prize when completed. Children of all ages can play “My American Farm” in our tablet lab. Adventures in Agriculture will have live animal exhibits, food displays, gardening information, and more. Children can simulate harvesting crops of their choice in the combine simulator. Adults and children alike will have the opportunity to learn heritage skills, such as butter making, spinning yarn, and more. Parents can talk with Master Gardeners and learn how to grow their own vegetables in a backyard or container garden, no matter how much (or how little) room you have. Don’t miss this FREE family fun day for all ages.
