Affordable Housing, Solid Waste options, tourism, in April ‘In the City’

The Murfreesboro Housing Authority presents a Master Plan to redevelop Oakland Courts’ public housing and local government officials tour facilities in California in the search for Solid Waste options, this month ‘In the City.’

Murfreesboro City Schools has one of the first elementary school Drone Racing programs in the nation. MCS Technology Director Scott Campbell says the program is introducing drone technology to some of the youngest in our community as part of STEM education.

Mayor Shane McFarland honored real estate veteran Bob Lamb with a Key to the City for 28 years of service on the Murfreesboro Planning Commission. When Lamb began his service in 1991, the City’s population was 40,000. Today, the City has grown to nearly 150,000.

The Murfreesboro Golf Department has an award-winning director of youth development. Jex Wilson recently received the Youth Player Development Award from the Tennessee Section of the PGA.

Did you know a Revolutionary War hero is buried in a cemetery behind Haynes Brothers Lumber Company? The Daughters of the American Revolution honored Capt. William Lytle in a special ceremony.

A group of co-workers and friends honored late MPD officer Michael Daingerfield with a swing at the Greenway’s General Bragg Trailhead. Daingerfield worked the Greenway and was with the Mountain Trackers Association.
