Become a Hometown Heroes Business and Help Child Abuse Victims

Support child abuse victims and honor the Hometown Heroes that help them by partnering with the Child Advocacy Center’s 3rd Annual Hometown Heroes Walk for Children on Friday, April 20.

Local Hometown Hero Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price is the event’s presenting sponsor.  His foundation Project One Four is one of many organizations supporting child abuse victims this spring through the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children.

Community support is critical to the Child Advocacy Center as all services are provided at no cost to child abuse victims and their families.

“Child abuse victims should never have to pay for services to help them heal from the trauma of abuse,” said Child Advocacy Center Executive Director Sharon De Boer.  “It takes the support of generous people in our community for us to continue to provide these critically needed services free of charge to children and families.”

The Child Advocacy Center works as a multidisciplinary team with the Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office to investigate and prosecute child abuse cases and help children and their families heal from the trauma.  In the last 18 years, the Child Protective Investigative Team, consisting of the Child Advocacy Center, the Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office have worked together to investigate and prosecute 13,606 child abuse cases and assisted over 20,000 individuals.

Eighty percent of the CAC budget is funded by federal, state, and United Way grants while the remaining 20 percent has to be raised from the local community through fundraising events like the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children.

There is still time to support our Hometown Heroes.  Businesses, civic organizations or other groups who wish to help child abuse victims heal may contact Child Advocacy Center Development Coordinator Kristina Troglen at 615-867-9000 or [email protected].

Hometown Heroes Walk for Children is presented by Project One Four A David Price Foundation.  Silver Supporters include Emergency Physicians of St. Thomas Rutherford, Franklin Synergy Bank, Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club, Murfreesboro Young Professionals, PATCO, Redstone Federal Credit Union and Steel Technologies.  Bronze Supporters include Ascend Federal Credit Union, Bratton Bros.
